To our brother, Michael Santiago. Your death leaves a heartache no one can heal, our love for you leaves a memory, no one can steal.

On April 7th, 2011 at 11:15 am, our brother and dearest friend, Michael Santiago was called home to be with his Lord. Our deepest sympathies go out to the Santiago family. Michael was a member of our Ohana, our rugby family.

Michael, a senior at Paul VI Catholic High School, was a month from his senior prom and less than two months from graduation. Michael was a good friend to many and will be greatly missed.

But even in the midst of this tragedy, Michael's Catholic faith shines through. As disciples of Christ we are called to be like Him who suffered and died so that others may have life.  Michael is an organ donor and his parents honor their son by respecting his wishes.  Even in the tragedy of death, Michael will be giving the gift of life.  In giving of himself, others may live.  In honor of Michael's selfless gift, we invite you if you have not already done so, to consider becoming an organ donor.

Michael's Funeral Mass was held Friday, April 15th at 1:30 pm. at St. Leo the Great's in Fairfax. The church was standing room only, a testament to the many lives Michael's heart and smile touched. The team wore their red jerseys as Michael's favorite color was red. Numerous local Rugby Club's were in attendance.

"Perhaps they are not stars, but rather openings in Heaven where the love of our lost ones pour through and shine down upon us to let us know they are happy and in His hands."
